The Society
Activities of the Richard III Society
The Richard III Society is an organisation based
in the UK with branches throughout the world. It is run by volunteer members and
operates on different levels. There are
a range of activities and events organised by the Society which are open to all
members to participate in at their own pace. Many members are content to simply
receive and enjoy the Society’s regular publications whilst others take a more active role. In
addition the Society carries out broader and more general activities in the fields
of research, publications and reputation management.
The Society’s activities can be summarised,
in no particular order, as follows:
Visits
Visits to places associated with Richard III
and his times, mainly in England, but a continental visit usually takes place
annually.
Commemorative Events

event link to Events/Commemorative take place annually. In March, services
to commemorate the death of Richard’s wife Anne; in August, a visit to Leicestershire
to mark the anniversary of Richard’s death at Bosworth; and in December, a visit
to Fotheringhay, Richard’s birthplace, for a Christmas lunch and carol service.
Celebratory Events
Special celebratory
events are organised to mark anniversaries within the Society, such
as the 50th anniversary of its re-founding in 2006.
