Introduction
Ricardian Britain:
Sites associated with Richard III and events during his lifetime
Many
years ago, the Society brought out a booklet, ‘Ricardian Britain’, which
listed nearly 90 sites throughout England and Wales which were
associated with Richard III and his family and with the events of the
Wars of the Roses. The booklet went through several editions and reprints,
but unfortunately it has long been out of print. However, a new, enlarged,
edition is being prepared for planned publication by the Society late in
2006. However, as part of this web site, we will gradually build up a
listing of a number of the principal Ricardian sites, beginning with the
following:
Fotheringhay - the village of Richard III’s birth
Middleham – Richard III’s principal residence in the north
Crosby Hall – Richard’s London residence as duke of Gloucester.
Sheriff Hutton - where Richard
III’s son is remembered
Bosworth - the site of Richard III’s final and fatal battle
