The Society, to mark the 50th anniversary of its refoundating, has been running a competition for students and schools consisting of a written competition and a creative art competition.  The closing date for entries is 30 January 2006.

Written Competition (Students aged 15-18)

Prizes are being offered for the best pieces of written work on the theme RICHARD III: THE MAN AND THE MYTH. The guidelines suggest that applicants may wish to address some of the following points: Richard’s claim to the throne; his record in government; the means he employed; his physical appearance and its significance; the evolution of his reputation.

Creative Art (students aged 11-16)

Prizes are also offered for the best poster advertising a place or event connected with Richard III.

Posters may be ‘present’ or ‘past’, i.e. designed as though they were modern advertisements, or as though they dated from the fifteenth century, or from some other period in the past.

The Society will publish a selection of the entries, including the winning ones, on this website.
