![]() On 28th February The Royal Mail will be producing a new issue of six stamps featuring the Lancastrian/Yorkist monarchs, these are the Henry's IV, V & VI ; the Edward's IV & V and Richard. The Society has been working with two specialist producers of First Day Covers both of whom will produce their own versions of a Richard III First Day Cover associated with the Society. The first producer is Buckingham First Day Covers who will produce two versions, illustrated, one with just the Richard III stamp and the other with the full set of six royal portraits. The unique feature of these
covers is that in addition to the stamps they will also feature a
portrait of Richard III which is the recently cleaned one which was
on display at the Royal Academy of Arts last year. Buckingham Covers, Warren
House, Shearway Road, Folkestone, Kent CT19 4B
The second
producer of covers is Sheridan Covers whose cover features not only
the full set of royal portraits but also the Society's commemorative
device which appeared on the cover of the Bulletin during our commemorative
year of 2006, illustrated.
These covers provide members, whether stamp collectors or not, with a chance to purchase something historical associated with Richard III. |
